The aim of our work is to consider Mass Spectrometry as projected towards the future, trough the consolidation of always new investigations, disposing of a wide revelation system for a powerful and sure data management. Mass Spectrometry is an alalytical technique able to radically modify and change post-genomic research in biochemical, biological and medical fields and its applications is involved in the development of highly relevant techniques for new experimental models. Imaging Mass Spectrometry has been analyzed to evaluate its different fields of application and use, and to stress new acquisitions in proteomic research, above all for tumour study. Library searching and pros and cons of different revealing system of commo n use in mass spectrometry have been considered. Quantitative determinations are established by the ratio between heath and area of the analyzed molecule and the internal standard. Mass spectrometry is a flexible and highly productive system which could be useful for the detection of specific proteins, drugs and toxics. It represents the main component of the laboratory platform, able to program the future laboratory development on a quantitative point of view but also in terms of instrumental efficiency and data safety.
