Abstract

The paper looks back to the debate between Robertson and Keynes about the role of property rights in business fluctuations. Robertson maintained that instability of investment may lead to fluctuations of economic activity independently on property rights structure. For Keynes, on the contrary, investment fluctuations is a source of instability only in a "capitalist" economy, while in a "cooperative economy" Say's law always holds and effective demand cannot affect the level of economic activity.
