A numerical approach to the resolution of coupled electromagnetic-mechanical problems by means of a mesh-free formulation is here proposed. Possible discontinuities are treated by means of a jump function, and full advantages are taken of the capabilities of mesh-free methods in the treatment of deforming domains. In order to highlight the effectiveness of the proposed approach, two quasi-static electromagnetic-mechanical problems in a 1-D and a 2-D configuration are presented.

Abstract

A numerical approach to the resolution of coupled electromagnetic-mechanical problems by means of a mesh-free formulation is here proposed. Possible discontinuities are treated by means of a jump function, and full advantages are taken of the capabilities of mesh-free methods in the treatment of deforming domains. In order to highlight the effectiveness of the proposed approach, two quasi-static electromagnetic-mechanical problems in a 1-D and a 2-D configuration are presented.
