The natural environment fits the needs of the men who live there and who shaped it over the centuries in the name of better usability. In some rare cases, the men followed advices of ius naturae and improved the natural elements of landscape; in other cases, he irremediably defaced it through the introduction of invasive shapes far from its equilibrium (i.e. illegal construction along the coast). The paper focuses on transformation that men enforced to the landscape of Domitian coast through ages to meet their residential, industrial, associative needs. It describes then all those works carried out on a large scale that have contributed to transform the landscape over the centuries as we see it today: the medieval monastic settlements, the massive works of hydraulic, the control policy and land management in the Domitian hinterland by the Bourbons in 18th century through the system of Real Sites, the agricultural colonies by ONC and finally the most recent and irreparable damage of unauthorized building right along the coasts
