The paper examines the profiles of the legal significance of living will in Italy and in Europe. From such a perspective, it will developed in order to: single out a definition of forward declaration of medical treatment capable of distinguishing it from similar cases; highlight the main issues arising in this regard; study the solutions being developed by the European legislature, and particularly in France and Germany.
