Abstract

In 1910 Innocenzo Dall’Osso dug a very important settlement for the Piceno’s culture, Belmonte (Ascoli Piceno, Marche). Unfortunately, the adverse events of the Archaeological Museum of Ancona caused the destruction of most of the materials of this center, including those from the village. Only the recovery of old pictures and drawings in the Archives of the ‘Soprintendenza archeologica delle Marche’ has allowed to acquire more information about this excavation, which can now make us able to do some observations in this regard and to compare the discovery of Belmonte with new evidences emerged in the Piceno area during recent decades, combined with brief descriptions provided by the same Dall’Osso
