The essay, on the basis of a meticulous investigation carried out at Pacanowski's private archives, deals with a careful critical examination of the work carried out by the Polish-born architect in the field of some commercial spaces created for the PRM stockings company. The original characteristics referred to the Milanese design scene and the inevitable suggestions received from the lesson of Le Corbusier, whom he met in person in Paris between 1930 and 1935, make these works a significant testimony of the "architecture of stores" for which, in the 1930s and 1940s, a lively debate was animated among the most shrewd professionals, to the point of modifying, as a consequence, the spaces of private life and the most frequented face of the cities.
