The history of drawing and representation are an important step in the eighteenth century when the great revolutionary discoveries of archeology at Pompeii and Herculaneum came to life, thanks to the accelerated desired first by the Bourbons and then by Bonaparte- Murat: no more monuments or loci, even prestigious, but closed in the space, entire cities that impose the passage to a representation of buildings, monuments, also landscapes, environments, contexts within which fabricae take shape and life. The eruption of Pompeii on the erudite scene of the world of image not only opens new horizons of knowledge on the important theme of perspective. In fact, Pompeii requires a new reflection on excavation techniques that henceforth will no longer be regardless of the ‘contexts’ as well as on the techniques of restoration. These, at the end of the eighteenth century, are beginning to emerge in a new expression linked to new forms of representation.
