Abstract

In 1968 Corrado Beguinot outlined the factors at the origin of the decision to relocate the University of Salerno to a satellite town. In 1987 the Campus of Fisciano was inaugurated: the complex was conceived as an open system, equipped with residential units, green areas, and multipurpose spaces. In 2005 Ettore Sottsass and Enzo Cucchi gave birth to the Cloister of Peace on the Campus: a case in point of the contribution of both art and architectural heritage to collective and collegial living.
