The paper focuses on several graves from the Etruscan necropolis of Felsina and Spina, belonging to woman of high social status. Within this tombs, a wise selection of goods – both in terms of shapes and iconography – seem to converge coherently towards certain spheres of meaning, all functional to the celebration of a nuptial ideology. In developing the message entrusted to the burial equipment, it is indeed possible to identify - despite a complex range of individual variations, a system of signs that enhances the woman as a bride, heroising her. Furthermore, marriage emerges as an ambiguous theme that unfolds on two levels: a social plane as a marker of female identity, and a funerary plane alluding to the transition to an otherworldly dimension in an eschatological perspective.
