This paper addresses the challenging problem of diagnosing faulty elements in phased array antennas. The positive impact of the use of steering diversity on the reconstruction of the array excitation coefficients is shown. The additional data coming from steering are exploited by using a modified version of the standard inversion algorithms. A numerical example showing the feasibility of the proposed approach is carried out.
