Abstract

As part of the phenomenon of the spread of the Neapolitan villa between the 16th and 17th centuries, it is not uncommon for constructive lives linked to different characters to take turns in the same building. Although the so-called Villa Regina at Vomero owes its name to the Capece Galeota, dukes of Regina, who renovated it in the second half of the 17th century, it was possible to identify at least one previous phase, related to the councilor Giovanni Andrea di Giorgio. After the intervention of Giacomo Capece Galeota, who significantly expanded the villa and its appurtenances, the complex came, at the beginning of the 20th century, to the nuns of the order of the Good Shepherd and hosted the Andrea Belvedere school until 2011, when the last phase of the history of the building opened, that of its abandonment.
