Effective facility management (FM) relies on timely access to operational and maintenance data. In this context, Building Information Modeling (BIM) has become a crucial tool, serving as a centralized digital repository on information log. To optimize FM workflows, BIM should support processes such as predictive maintenance and lifecycle management, which requires its additional integration with emerging technologies. This integration is achievable with Semantic Web Technologies (SWTs). Despite growing research on FM digitalization, the conceptualization of SWTs applications is widely scattered in the literature, particularly in the domain of FM. This study aims to fill this gap by reviewing the emerging technological synergies and their interrelationships to enhance FM workflows. The article achieves this by a thematic analysis of relevant studies, with a particular focus on SWTs and advanced technologies and their relationships. The findings illustrate categorization of technologies into four key clusters: Automation Technologies, Data Infrastructure Technologies, Sensing Technologies, and Semantic Web Technologies. The review reveals various implications of these technologies in the operation and maintenance phases of construction lifecycle. The article also offers insights into the evolving role of innovative technologies in FM, identifies gaps and suggests directions for future research.
