Abstract

The problem of phased array diagnostics in the near field is addressed. Instead of the standard spatial domain, the data field is collected from a fixed probe during beam steering in the phase domain. This strategy allows the MUSIC algorithm to be used in the near zone with de-correlation procedures that are not applicable when the data is collected in the spatial domain. Numerical examples show the effectiveness of the algorithm and compare the latter with compressive sensing techniques.
