In 19th century Europe, the bourgeois class contributed to the revival of the practice of spending time at spas, not only for physical wellness, but also for leisure. This gave rise to the phenomenon of thermal tourism, which in Italy saw an increase in the number of resorts, especially in the last decades of the 19th century, many of which were in Campania. The contribution intends to explore that process of urban development in Campania localities such as Telese and Ischia.
