Little explored in depth by historiography, school buildings in the 1950s shows a varied heritage in terms of language, animated by Montessori pedagogy, but discontinuous. The reasons are to be found in the failed attempt to amend the 1939 Carta Bottai, when Minister Gonella set up a national commission in 1951 with the task of reforming the school. Difficulties in identifying the correct location of buildings, finding land and funding often prevented the realization of works. The 12th Milan Triennale in 1960, dedicated to 'The home and the school', as well as the establishment of the new middle school in 1962, were to be the driving force behind new thinking, which was however overwhelmed by the demographic boom.
