Is digitalization the engine of sustainability? A bibliometric analysis

The article aims to give a complete overview of the literature on how digitalization can help organizations to address sustainability challenges. We conducted a bibliometric analysis with Bibliometrix package. Two main clusters topic were identified, revealing the increasing attention of digital technologies in sustainable models and practices and a focus on circular economy. The topic position map highlights that the motor theme refers on how management practices and capabilities in specific fields enable firms to integrate digital systems and technologies into their operations, supply chains, and overall strategies. Integrating digital systems within firms and across systems in a given field can facilitate sustainability objectives and outcomes. The study provides academics an picture of the topic themes and its challenges. It informs practitioners and policymakers about the tools and specific obstacles of digitalization in addressing sustainability challenges, thereby contributing to accelerating the achievement of sustainable development.
