Starting in 2016, as part of a broad collaboration protocol between the Archaeological Park of Pompeii and the University of Bologna, a new scientific research project began on the House of Obellio Firmo (IX, 14, 4) aimed at the understanding of the evolution of the building complex before 79 AD. New non-invasive and topographic surveys have led to the verification of some research hypotheses already formulated in part from previous studies or derived from the analysis of elevated and archival documents on the supply system and management of water resources of the domus. The excavation and research campaigns of the years 2016-2018 in the garden area have also brought to light a new Samnite age building separated from the domus of Obellio Firmo and characterized by water collection, exploitation and disposal systems such as tanks, wells, ducts and cisterns for the daily management of water in a residential context.
