This work deals with the issue of firm cognitive dynamics in the context of the digital transformation (or digitalization) of the modern world, which is generating profound changes in the business environment, blurring industry boundaries, and creating unprecedent threats and opportunities for firms. The phenomenon has assumed even greater relevance as a consequence of COVID-19, which has necessitated the use of digital communication as a primary and immediate emergency response. The analysis is conducted from a managerial perspective based on both literature (by means of traditional and systematic literature reviews) and expert insights (based on interviews with three Gartner analysts). The aim of the work is to analyze the digital transformation of a firm from a cognitive perspective, to provide a body of knowledge to support firm cognitive processes and decision-making in the digital era, and, thus, to sustain the processes of value creation and appropriation.

Abstract
This work deals with the issue of firm cognitive dynamics in the context of the digital transformation (or digitalization) of the modern world, which is generating profound changes in the business environment, blurring industry boundaries, and creating unprecedent threats and opportunities for firms. The phenomenon has assumed even greater relevance as a consequence of COVID-19, which has necessitated the use of digital communication as a primary and immediate emergency response. The analysis is conducted from a managerial perspective based on both literature (by means of traditional and systematic literature reviews) and expert insights (based on interviews with three Gartner analysts). The aim of the work is to analyze the digital transformation of a firm from a cognitive perspective, to provide a body of knowledge to support firm cognitive processes and decision-making in the digital era, and, thus, to sustain the processes of value creation and appropriation.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
