Paper aims at presenting a focused research methodology examining the historical thermal baths, in order to design a network of cultural itineraries in European countries able to promote sustainable tourism. Cataloguing and documenting transformation of sites and landscapes, after the period thermal vacation has acquired a new social significance, could support government programs for preservation and restoration of environmentally, architecturally and artistically-valuable thermal areas and related services.
