In 1895 he opened a shop in Paris named Art Nouveau with the intent to sell objects that were not usual style imitations but new and modern. Since then, and for about twenty years, a new artistic movement has spread in Europe in reaction to the eminent culture of historicist eclecticism, which takes the name of Art Nouveau or, in Italy, Liberty, from the name of English A.L. Liberty, one of the largest importers in Europe of oriental objects, especially Japanese. Residential and hotel building examples in Naples, constructed according to this style, will be examined here.
