Abstract

An inverse source approach is adopted to establish a comparison between different source 3D geometries for conformal antennas applications. By resorting to the spectral decomposition of the radiation operator, either in closed form, when possible, or numerically, the number of degrees of freedom of the source is examined as a possible candidate. In fact it can be related to the set of patterns that each source can radiate according to its geometry. Some theoretical predictions about this number are confirmed by numerical examples
