The church of Santa Sofia in Benevento (Italy) was built during the Longobard period and completed in 762. The church is on a central plan, with six columns in the central area which support the dome. Acoustic measurements were carried out with a sound source on the altar and microphones in the area where the congregation sits. The average reverberation time value, with an empty room, at the frequency of 1.0 kHz was about 1.5 seconds. To better understand the sound distribution in the church, the architectural acoustics software “Odeon” was used. Using a virtual acoustic model, the spatial distribution of the acoustic parameters (EDT, T30, C80 D50 and STI) were analyzed.

Abstract
The church of Santa Sofia in Benevento (Italy) was built during the Longobard period and completed in 762. The church is on a central plan, with six columns in the central area which support the dome. Acoustic measurements were carried out with a sound source on the altar and microphones in the area where the congregation sits. The average reverberation time value, with an empty room, at the frequency of 1.0 kHz was about 1.5 seconds. To better understand the sound distribution in the church, the architectural acoustics software “Odeon” was used. Using a virtual acoustic model, the spatial distribution of the acoustic parameters (EDT, T30, C80 D50 and STI) were analyzed.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
