Abstract

The paper intends to show a graphic investigations of some areas of Ager Campanus in Campania Region through diachronic interrogations of data being remotely sensed and represented with traditional and innovative media, which find management synthesis in an open source geo-data-base, structured by the authors, drawing from the most significant publications on the topic and the geographical databases of national and international authorities. Maps and aerial images, complement the multispectral satellite data and widen the investigative gaze beyond the limit of the “visible.” Indeed, multispectral data record the electromagnetic response of the elements in the landscape (vegetation, rocks, anthropic features) in the segments “invisible” to the human eye. The integrated analysis of this heterogeneous data allows qualitative and quantitative analyses otherwise impossible when limited to the tangible dimensions. The proposed approach goes beyond what is allowed by typical platforms that only show “visible” data and has used Earth Observation technology to its full potential, providing the results discussed in this paper.
