Noise and meteorological monitoring of a wind farm

"Even though the contribution of wind farm noise on the overall level is generally quite low in magnitude, resulting in some cases comparable with the existing background noise, the noise generated from wind turbine represent one of the main reason of opposition by residents against the wind farms functioning or new installation. . Many studies have highlighted as this problem is complex and multifaceted, in fact, besides the noise, many other factors, such as that physicals, psychological, individual, socio-cultural and economical, can play a primary role on the population’s reaction who live near the wind farms. . For this reason in order demonstrate as more objectively as possible, the impact of a wind turbine on the residents, a noise\/meteorological monitoring and accurate analysis of the results should be provided.. In this paper are presented the activities and the results of a noise\/meteorological monitoring carried out in two receiver points near to the wind farm of Savignano Irpino (Italy). "
