A comparative evaluation of design procedures considering both building code provisions both innovative methods based on the second order plastic analysis was carried out. At this aim, a multi-objective and multi-criteria performance evaluation of steel moment-resisting frame buildings was realised with specific acceptance criteria at the different limit states: Immediate Occupancy, Life Safety, Collapse Prevention. As an alternative to non-linear re-sponse history analysis, an incremental non-iterative nonlinear static procedure based on the pushover analysis, the Inelastic and Capacity Spectra Method was used. Finally, the effects of higher modes contribution and time-variant distributions of inertia forces were investigated.

Abstract
A comparative evaluation of design procedures considering both building code provisions both innovative methods based on the second order plastic analysis was carried out. At this aim, a multi-objective and multi-criteria performance evaluation of steel moment-resisting frame buildings was realised with specific acceptance criteria at the different limit states: Immediate Occupancy, Life Safety, Collapse Prevention. As an alternative to non-linear re-sponse history analysis, an incremental non-iterative nonlinear static procedure based on the pushover analysis, the Inelastic and Capacity Spectra Method was used. Finally, the effects of higher modes contribution and time-variant distributions of inertia forces were investigated.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
