The effects of confinement on seismic safety of regular r.c. buildings designed with the Eurocodes were investigated. At first a non linear model obtained from regression analysis of test data was proposed to construct the stress-strain relation for confined concrete. The model was then used to characterize the confined concrete strength and deformation capacity, interaction and moment-rotation curves, push-over overstrength and ductility, seismic safety and damage index.

Abstract
