Architecture is structure and syntax, shape and function; many times it has a symbolic value, as material place where the way of thinking founds a concrete form. In these terms, architecture is a way of “space writing”, a medium to symbolize not only a way of thinking in technical and spatial terms, but even to communicate scientific, philosophic, religious, symbolic thoughts. Informatics is the distinctive tool of our time, as well as the most innovative scientific theory is the “chaos theory”. A complex system is described by the number of elements and by the interactions between these elements. The revolution of the modern science is in understanding the processes which produce these systems starting from simple rules. Informatics is the new tool for a multidimensional representation of multiple information deriving from studies carried out in various disciplinary sectors, coordinated by a suitably interactive computerised system. As well, the new scientific theories are the conceptual medium to “represent knowledge”, as the topic of this meeting indicates. The meaning of “knowledge” is at the same time the information about the architecture, and the thought which generated that architecture.
