Abstract

Fragments of textiles and textile products in a more or less degraded state, fused, shuttles or spools in bone of good workmanship, jars and containers with residues of the coloring matter found in the ruins of ancient Pompeii houses, testify to how widespread were the activities of spinning, weaving and dyeing in the common residences and handicraft shops of the Roman cities in the first century AD. Measure weft and warp of the fragments of textiles and textile articles, despite the sharp deterioration in the state of which have been found, and decode the morphological characters, color, decorative, functional and material of the artifact allows us to read and interpret influences and interactions on the historical axis which have affected the Mediterranean in general and the Roman sites, declined through the experience of Pompeii.
