This paper deals with the electromagnetic analysis of FLUXSET, an innovative sensor for the measurement of the magnetic field. This probe consists of a driving solenoid carrying a triangular current waveform, a pick-up coil, and a core, which is a sheet of conducting material characterized a nonlinear B-H curve. We determine the impact of the eddy currents induced in the core by the driving solenoid, calculate the voltage induced in the pickup coil for different field values, and assess the contribution given by the core and the air.

Abstract

This paper deals with the electromagnetic analysis of FLUXSET, an innovative sensor for the measurement of the magnetic field. This probe consists of a driving solenoid carrying a triangular current waveform, a pick-up coil, and a core, which is a sheet of conducting material characterized a nonlinear B-H curve. We determine the impact of the eddy currents induced in the core by the driving solenoid, calculate the voltage induced in the pickup coil for different field values, and assess the contribution given by the core and the air.
